Straights of Sicily - February 1941

Setup: The Vichy French have a vital convoy they must escort from the safety of Algeria to their far flung colony of Syria, through the contested waters of the central Mediterranean. In this campaign we are using an adaptation of the Nimitz 'straights of Sicily' scenario. The French have a small airstrip at Bizerte whilst the British have a more substantial airfield on Malta. British naval assets are assumed to be arriving from the direction of Alexandria. Day 1 Morning: The British win the initiative and launch an overwhelming first strike. Eight flights of Hudson bombers take off from Malta and proceed to destroy the entirety of the French bomber wing whilst they are still on the runways at Bizerte.* Day 1 Afternoon: Four more flights of Hudson spot the lone French cruiser Gloire scouting the Tunisian coast. Tyranids Vs Imperial Guard

Deployment: In this scenario victory points are awarded for destroying enemy units and for capturing table quarters. The tyranids have concentrated their genestealers between the rubble and the warehouse. Up top around the capitol they have more genestealers and a carnifex, alongside the gargoyles in the tower. Infiltrating behind the silos at the bottom they have the broodlord with his armoured genestealer retinue. The guard have an infantry platoon occupying the central factory. The company HQ with it's missile launcher support squads is located in the archive on the left. Protecting the bottom end of the factory is an armoured fist squad mounted in their chimera. In addition the guard have three infiltrating veteran squads in the top left, bottom left, and centre right of the city. Tyranid Turn 1: The carnifex lumbers forward and fires it's bio weapon into the guardsmen on the roof of the factory. Straights of Sicily - June 1940

Setup: Whilst the French army crumbles against the German onslaught, the Marine Nationale doggedly conducts operations in the Mediterranean. In this scenario they are escorting a convoy from Algiers to Aleppo Day 1 Morning: Liore et Olivier heavy bombers escorted by Dewoitine fighters take off from Bizerte and sally out across the straights to soften up the Regia Aeronautica at Palermo. They are met by an overwhelming swarm of Italian fighters and three fifths of the sortie are shot down, achieving only superficial damage to the airfield and destroying a handful of aircraft on the ground. Meanwhile the Regia Marina take up positions to the north and east of Sicily. Day 1 Afternoon: The Italian fleet spreads out to the south and west. French submarines spot the light cruiser Scipione Africano accompanied by a destroyer scouting just east of Bizerte.
