The Wars of Religion - Stubborn Defence

Deployment: In this game we are using the 'Liber Militum Tercios' rules, and their 3rd scenario 'stubborn defence'*. A strong Spanish force under the Duke of Palma have been chasing a weaker Huguenot one led by king Henri IV across the countryside, finally forcing them to make a stand. Fortunately for the French they have a cavalry detachment racing to the rescue. The Spanish score victory points for each unit they get into the defenders side of the board (just behind the fields), whilst the French get victory points for each attacking unit destroyed. In their vanguard the French have a mixed English regiment of pike, shot and billmen, a body of Huguenot arquebusiers, a medium artillery piece, and a squadron of cuirassiers. In reserve they have more Huguenot shot, cuirassiers, and a squadron of mercenary reiters. A Tale of Challenges: Carolingians Vs Byzantines

  Deployment: The Byzantines have a unit of levy in the field on their left, and two more in the woods on their right. Their centre is held by twelve bow armed warriors, six mounted hearthguard, and the warlord himself. The Carolingians have a pair of normal and bow armed units of warriors on each flank. In the centre they have more warriors, the warlord and six mounted hearthguard.  The two warlords have issued a number of challenges to demonstrate their worth, both to  their enemy and their own men. The Byzantine warlord has declared that he and more than half his men will survive the battle unharmed, and together they will kill the barbarian chieftain. The Carolingian warlord boasts they shall slaughter ten Romans in a single turn, and that his men will show their determination and lust for victory by throwing themselves at the enemy and taking 3/4 casualties!  Turn 1: The Byzantines have first turn. The Wars of Religion - Surrounded Around the Flag

Deployment: In this scenario the Spanish/ catholic forces are exhausted after a long campaign and have been surprised by the French Huguenots sudden attack.  Turn 1: The French very cautiously push forwards. The Spanish infantry hastily march to shore up their line, but the cavalry on the right are disordered and delayed.  Turn 2: In the cornfield both sides mercenary reiters clash, exhausting one another in a brutal melee. The French however are able to send in their argoulets to finish the job, and the first catholic unit is destroyed.  Meanwhile the Huguenot shot skirmish with the detached manga's in the forest, allowing the French cuirassiers to ride straight past them on the road.  Turn 3: The elite Spanish tercio go straight for the indomitable Swiss.
