Alpha Legion Vs Space Marines

Deployment: This is a firesweep scenario with both sides trying to claim the majority of ruined buildings in the city. The space marines have their devastators set up with good fields of fire atop the silos, with assault marines ready to spring forward at the base. Three tactical squads with an attached captain make up the front line, whilst the landspeeder and whirlwind are to the rear and ready to support. The scouts have infiltrated forwards to claim the warehouse. The entire alpha legion force has elected to infiltrate. One havoc squad take the far corner to line up a shot on the whirlwind, and the second takes the base of the tower, with a chaos marine squad between the tower and the warehouse. The chaos lord and lieutenant each lead a gang of cultists, one deployed in the factory and the second between the factory and tower.

Alpha Legion Turn 1: The havocs fire out of nowhere and easily dispatch the whirlwind, allowing the rest of the legion to advance.

Space Marine Turn 1: The scouts spring an assault from the ruins of the warehouse, but the traitors stubborn resistance blunts the attack, descending into a drawn out and bloody brawl. The tactical squads move up cautiously, allowing the landspeeder and assault marines to zoom on ahead.

Alpha Legion Turn 2: The arrogant chaos lieutenant attempts to bring down the landspeeder with his powerfist, but only succeeds at stranding his cultists in the open. The second cultist squad moves into the capitol whilst the havocs climb the tower.

Space Marine Turn 2: The tactical squad in the archive unleash their flamers and bolters on the cultists, gunning down the unarmored heretics with ease. The Devastators spot their chance and fire crack missiles down upon the isolated chaos lieutenant, killing him instantly. The landspeeder similarly immolates the cultists in the capitol. A tactical squad charge in to finish the job, but they're momentum is crushed by alpha legion booby traps, leaving them easy prey for the chaos lord. Unwilling to let the havocs set up heavy weapons in such a deadly firing position, the assault marines hurtle into the tower and fight another desperate bloody melee.

Alpha Legion Turn 3: The chaos lord dispatches the marines in the capitol, before consolidating into another tactical squad. Meanwhile the chaos marines defeat the imperial fist scouts and send the sole survivor running, and then dash to the aid of the havocs in the tower.

Space Marine Turn 3: The devastators rain down more deadly fire. This time a cluster of three well placed frag missiles guts the densely packed havocs in the corner. The space marine captain decides now is the moment to stop the massacre in the capitol. He bravely challenges the chaos lord  to duel and hurls himself into the fray, but is carved apart before he can strike a blow!

Alpha Legion Turn 4: At last the Alpha Legion obliterator arrives. Gambling boldly he attempts to deepstrike right into the heart of the fight, but instead materializes staring down the barrel of a multimelta! His head is vaporized by the quick thinking landspeeder gunner. Meanwhile the chaos lord continues his rain of terror in the factory, hacking apart more space marines. But in the tower the assault marine sergeant fights on doggedly, crushing legionnaire after legionnaire with his powerfist.

Space Marine Turn 4: At last the two surviving tactical marines find a crack in the chaos lords armor and empty their bolters into him, eviscerating him from the inside. The factory is claimed by another squad leaving the imperial fists in control of 5/6 buildings.

Alpha Legion Turn 5: The cultists hurl themselves into the melee in the tower in a desperate attempt to tip the balance, but the assault marines are saved by the heroic lone remaining scout returning to the fray.

Space Marine Turn 5: The landspeeder chases down and dispatches the remaining cultists, whilst the devastators give the retreating havocs a parting volley, leaving just one alpha legion survivor. Space marines win!
