Imperial Guard Vs Alpha Legion

Deployment: In this scenario an imperial guard detachment is trapped and surrounded by the Alpha legion, waiting for a relief force to arrive. The guard have an infantry platoon in the factory in the centre. They also have three infiltrating veteran squads, one in the capitol building one in the warehouse and one next to the archive. The alpha legion have a squad of chaos marines in the top left corner, and another led by a chaos lieutenant in the bottom left. A second chaos lieutenant leads a large cultist squad in the bottom right, whilst in the top right another cultist squad lurks behind the tanks. Finally a havoc squad with missile launchers is perched on top of the tanks.


Alpha Legion Turn 1: In the bottom left the chaos marine squad with a meltagun emerge from behind the pipe and score a hit on the chimera, destroying it's multilaser. Both cultist squads advance, but the havoc's fail utterly to lay down any suppressive fire, failing to kill a single guardsman!

Imperial Guard Turn 1: Flamer squads advance towards the cultists, but barely scorch the front ranks. A combined fusilade of mortars, grenade launchers and lasguns do however whittle away at their numbers and they are only held to their purpose by the iron will of the alpha legion leuitenant. The meltagun wielding veterans bravely move up to take on a chaos marine squad, and catching their enemy in a crossfire take out four of them. Finally the veterans in the warehouse sneak forwards and blast several havoc's from the roof of the tanks with their grenade launchers.


Alpha Legion Turn 2: A chaos marine squad advances towards the capitol, gunning down half the veterans with their bolters and putting the remainder to flight. The other marine squad with escorting lieutenant carve apart the meltagun veteran squad. The cultists by the tanks smash into the guard Flamer section,  overpowering them and advancing into the factory. Finally the remaining chaos lieutenant leading more cultists easily dispatches the guard platoons officer and consolidates into another section on the roof of the factory.

Imperial Guard Turn 2: The chimera slams into reverse, hurtling backwards down the narrow alley whilst spraying heavy bolter fire. A guard section in the factory dash forwards under its covering fire and gun down a chaos marine. Finally the fleeing veteran spins around and fires a parting shot with his meltagun, blasting a 2ft hole through the chaos lieutenant chest, killing him instantly. In the factory the brave guard section doggedly fight on in melee against the cultists and other chaos lieutenant. Despite losing half their numbers they grimly buy time for their comrades to ready a counter attack.

Alpha Legion Turn 3: Arriving just too late to save his master (convenient?), the alpha legion obliterator assassinates the surviving meltagun wielding veteran. Meanwhile the chaos marines by the capitol get into flamer range and finish off another veteran squad. 

Imperial Guard Turn 3: The chaos lieutenant and cultists butcher the last of their opponents and stumble into the centre of the factory. The guard trap these traitors in a cauldron of fire, inflicting the indignity of bringing the 10,000 year reign of terror of the chaos lieutenant to an end with nothing more than their lasguns.

Alpha Legion Turn 4: Triumph turns to catastrophe as the chaos terminators teleport onto the corpse of their fallen lord and unleash a torrent of firepower. The obliterator creeps through the ruins of the archive and drawing his flamer pistol incinerates an entire section of guardsmen. The cultists leap up onto the factory roof to tie up the final section of guardsmen in melee.

Imperial Guard Turn 4: At last the imperial guard reinforcements arrive, but their many heavy weapons will take time to set up. The veterans in the warehouse fire their grenade launchers furiously into the terminators, but fail to make any impression on their ancient and mighty armour.

Alpha Legion Turn 5: The havoc's get their revenge finally getting their aim in and blasting apart the veterans in the warehouse. The terminators smash into melee with the last guard section in the factory, crushing them easily beneath their feet. With no guard units remaining in the pocket, the reinforcements beat a hasty retreat leaving the battlefield to the enemy. Alpha legion win!

Deployment: In early 1941 Vichy France has declared war on the British empire and dispatched its fleet to draw off British naval forces ahead of a prospective German invasion. This battle takes place in the straights of Gibraltar, so the long board edges are unscrollable. The Wars of Religion - Fields of Glory

Deployment: In this battle both sides are simply seeking to destroy the opposing army whilst preserving as much of their own force as possible. The Spanish/ Catholics have opted to put their cavalry and artillery in the centre between the swamp and the forest, whilst their infantry anchor both flanks. The French Huguenots have cavalry forming a front rank all along the line, but have weighted most of their infantry towards their left. Turn 1: The Spanish mounted arquebusiers begin some indecisive skirmishing in the centre. Their musketeers push through the forest, whilst the rest of the infantry slowly swing around the terrain and close in from the flanks. Straights of Sicily - February 1941

Setup: The Vichy French have a vital convoy they must escort from the safety of Algeria to their far flung colony of Syria, through the contested waters of the central Mediterranean. In this campaign we are using an adaptation of the Nimitz 'straights of Sicily' scenario. The French have a small airstrip at Bizerte whilst the British have a more substantial airfield on Malta. British naval assets are assumed to be arriving from the direction of Alexandria.  Day 1 Morning: The British win the initiative and launch an overwhelming first strike. Eight flights of Hudson bombers take off from Malta and proceed to destroy the entirety of the French bomber wing whilst they are still on the runways at Bizerte.* Day 1 Afternoon: Four more flights of Hudson spot the lone French cruiser Gloire scouting the Tunisian coast.
